Amplifier Repair

Tube amplifiers are my main bread and butter. New or Old, Point-to-Point or PCB; I’ll take a shot at it. I’m a bit pickier with Solid State amplifiers, generally amps made after the early 2000’s are a no-go; the cost of repair usually exceeds the value of the amp!
Regardless, don’t hesistate to ask!

Amplifier Modification

If your amplifier is currently working fine but leaves more to be desired, there’s a good chance that tweaks can be made to the circuit, speaker, or layout that will get you closer to your ideal sound. An Initial consultation with the client will be done to ensure the gear you want souped up is capable of delivering the desired results.

Troubleshooting/Diagnostics

All repair jobs begin with a function test to get an accurate idea of where the failure point lies. Tests are done with symptoms provided by the client in mind. After a completed diagnosis, the client will be provided with an estimate of crucial and optional repairs comprised of parts and labor costs. No further work will be completed until the client approves repairs detailed in the estimate. If the client refuses further service beyond diagnostics, they will only be responsible for paying the applicable bench fee. (See Rates for more information)

Instrument Repair/Service

I offer Full Set-ups for electric stringed instruments (restring, neck adjustment/shim, action adjustment, intonation) and pickup swaps/rewiring. Anything beyond minor fret work and small finish repairs I will refer you to a professional luthier. Equipment Tune ups

Whether you inherited a vintage amp from grandpa that’s been sitting in a closet for decades, or your regularly gigged workhorse has started to underperform; periodic maintenance of electrical audio equipment is crucial to keeping it working as intended.

Custom Builds and PCB Design

Depending on my current workload and the length of my repair queue, custom amplifier builds and PCB design/layout services are available for commission. Labor and parts rates differ from my general repair services and are project-dependent. If you have some big ideas cooking in your head, reach out and we can discuss the project!

Beyond Amps and Instruments

Though I specialize in music equipment and audio gear, I respond to all electronics repair inquiries. I’ve taken on some odd repair jobs over the years so don’t be afraid to ask! Even if I don’t take on the job, there’s a good chance I can connect you with someone better suited for the work!
